Imaginative Wire Tree Sculptures

The First Stage
My creative year 4 class is studying State and National Parks.  As part of this we have been looking at trees and their root systems.  This is the first stage in creating their wire tree sculptures.

The next step was choosing part of a branch and painting it.

Finally the branches were wired to the bottles and wire was added to the trees.  Some children created an additional wire root system, some delicate nests, some added a swing and some used wire to outline a bird in the tree.  These are the first finished but there is more to come.  Aren't they beautiful!

Up close to the detail.  This is a delicate nest with an egg.

Some careful binding of branches.

A nest up high and a swing below.

Painted branches.
