Year 4 studied traditional Batik patterns and the process of creating Batik. We identified defining features such as symmetry and repetition of design. Students drew their own designs on paper with oil pastels and outlined them in black. Carefully they scrunched up their drawings and opened them up again, then repeated the process. After opening them a second time they painted a black wash over their images to mimic the traditional process of dyeing the fabric.

Year 4 Indonesian inspired masks
Our Year 4's have been studying Indonesia, its culture and customs. These very artistic and talented students have created these amazing masks. They painstakingly worked on their designs on paper and then transferred the design to their masks, marking out the black lines first. They all chose their own colour combinations and the results show not only artistic talent but a great sense of colour as well. Congratulations we are so proud of you all!
