Influential Leaders in the style of Pop Art

Year 6 is studying the HSIE unit on government.  The children have been allocated Influential Leaders from around the world to research.  I decided to use these influential leaders to learn about colour theory and Pop Art.  We looked at the reasons for the beginning of Pop Art and two of the most familiar pop artists, Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein.  This coupled with a previous lesson on colour theory, where the students produced colour wheels of primary, secondary and tertiary colours helped them gain an appreciation of contrasting and complimentary colours.  They have produced some amazing works of art and interestingly some have a slight cubist feel, I think.  Whatever the art movement I think they are great.
